“Fuck that new girl that’s been in your bed and when you’re in her I know I’m in your head.”
Jojo’s interpretation of Drake’s “Marvin’s Room” is not only better than the original, it is one of the best musical triumphs of 2011. It is a triumphant cry of the past lover, the mournful ex, the bitter end. There are other songs - more biting and much angrier - that encapsulate a portion of the emotions that can rise at the end of a relationship. But this one - complete with clever word play, moody angst, and that special way that Jojo says, “fuck” - feels better than many other songs I’ve heard this year.
Agreed, agreed, a-fucking-greed.
